New chairs arriving daily at Resene

Each chair has its appropriate poem on display in front of it. There are also poetry pamphlets, to read on site or take away, featuring the nine poems the artists were responding to when creating these amazing poetry chairs.

Patricia Payne

Patricia Payne and I only met this year but we’ve become friends through art, poetry and other common interests. I was rapt when she responded with a resounding “YES” to my tentative, you wouldn’t be interested in taking part in our chair project would you?

Laura Gregory

I was gifted two of Laura’s artworks before I ever met her. I remember the first time we stopped at the old Waikouaiti Post Office and went in for a browse. I suddenly saw all these artworks by ‘my’ artist and then realised we were actually in ‘my ‘ artist’s Gallery!

And ‘my’ artist Laura greeted us. We’ve kept in touch with Laura and Peter since that occasion and they have been amazingly supportive of all my exhibitions – willing to loan their talents and time to whatever project I have on the go.

Kelli Agodon 3

Kelli Russell Agodon generously allowed me to borrow her poem for our Spring poetry card and to offer it to artists as a ‘response’ poem PLUS use its title as the name for our project. Find The Poets tag above and scroll down to read more about Kelli Russell Agodon.
