A successful CHAIRity auction

SOLD, Sold, Sold. That was the lovely sound ringing out from Mandy Mayhem-Bullock, our auctioneer, on Sunday afternoon, October 15. We sold 35 chairs which was fantastic.

I had planned to take photos but my plans and reality didn’t coincide. ( Thanks to Philip and Lee for sharing their photos) The eftpos machine was revving, bidders were competing and chairs were disappearing out the door. There was plenty of friendly banter, rivalry and applause.

Sincere thanks to the poets, the artists, the team at Resene Colorshop, Gillions Funeral Services and everyone who attended on Sunday afternoon – we are rapt with the result for Poems in the Waiting Room.

All of the chairs are at Resene now – you’re very welcome to have a look at them during shop hours. There is no need to register as a bidder.

The printed catalogue numbers will be the same as the Gallery numbers.

Book bids are welcome –  contact Ruth at waitingroompoems at gmail.com. Please replace at with @   (transportation arrangements and costs to be made by the bidder.)

The Love Waltz with Fireworks auction will be held on Sunday October 15 @ 2pm at the Resene Colorshop,172 Crawford St, Dunedin.

Each chair has its appropriate poem on display in front of it. There are also poetry pamphlets, to read on site or take away, featuring the nine poems the artists were responding to when creating these amazing poetry chairs.
